Does your child enjoy helping in the kitchen? In this fun, hands-on class, students will learn to design their own recipes, create unique dishes, and learn skills and techniques of cooking and baking. Students will also cook and bake pre-designed recipes with instructor guidance, leading up to group challenges with original recipe creations. The class will explore the basics like kitchen safety, proper food handling and more.
Instructors: Ashley Mayo is an avid crafter and baker, who commissions and creates projects for her online family magazine. She also writes for various publications on eco-friendly topics. As a Mariposa community member she has helped create and teach cooking and crafting projects for Mariposa 1-5 classes and has been teaching in the Mariposa enrichment program for two years.
Ziva Santop: When Ziva was a young girl, she used to pretend she was doing a cooking show and many years later, Ziva worked at Spago and also on the Wolfgang Puck Cooking Show (on the Food TV Network). She opened up her own pastry business where she made desserts for local cafes and restaurants (including the Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf). She is super excited about sharing her passion for baking.
