FAQ

  • Aren't we a public school? Why do we need fundraisers?

Due to severe statewide budget cuts, all public schools in LVUSD have annual giving and other fundraisers to pay for the teachers and campus aides state funding doesn't cover.

  • Why don't we ask for the entire amount at one-time with one fundraiser?

We spread out our fundraising needs so that it doesn't have to come out of your pocket entirely. Our fun run allows families to tap friends, relatives and colleagues for donations. And Winter Faire is open to the community, giving us revenue from outside our parents and guardians.

  • How do I earn my 8 hour volunteer minimum every month?

  • Why does Mariposa loop teachers?

Through looping our teachers are better able to assess each individual’s development, needs, and learning style—and the children, feeling secure in this long-term relationship, are more comfortable in their learning environment. Like a family, parents are encouraged to work through any conflict or difficult situations with their child's teachers.

  • What is the purpose of handwork in our curriculum?

Hand eye coordination, focus of attention, patience, persistence and a practical use of math skills through counting rows and stitches and pattern making are all encompassed in handwork.
